Weekly deals - June 19th-25th 2011

This week was a good week for food deals. I obviously went out on June 21st to claim my free box of cereal, but I also found a great deal on Kraft Dinner (I should be stocked up for around 8 months now), and had a coupon for M&M Meat Shops that I had to use before it expired this week. Overall, here is a breakdown of my scores.

Fiber 1 Brown Sugar Cereal: $3.99 - free product coupon (from Websaver) = FREE (saved $3.99)
2x Eggo Blueberry Waffles: $4.00 - 2 free product coupons (from Mini Wheats cereal) = FREE (saved $5.98)
8x Kraft Dinner: 11.12 - in-store BOGO offer = $5.56 (saved $5.56)
Campbells Cream of Mushroom soup: $0.99
Tax: $0.00
Total paid: $6.55
Total saved: $15.53

June 23rd 2011 - M&M Meat Shops
Garlic Butterflied Shrimp: $9.99 - $5.00 coupon (from Canadian Tire promotion last month) = $4.99 (saved $8.00)
Tax: $0.00
Total paid: $4.99
Total saved: $8.00

I set out with my list this morning, hoping to price match a few different things at Zellers in order to benefit from the SPC Discount. Unfortunately, all they had from my list was the chicken broth (they were out of infant Tylenol, and did not have the Lean Cuisine and the Kraft Dressing that I had coupons for). I did spot Motrin Liquid Gels on clearance though, and went back to get them after printing the coupon at home. I really need to learn to have my printed coupons with me at all times!

June 25th 2011 - Zellers (Transaction 1)
2x Campbells Chicken Broth: $3.58 (price matched Atlantic Superstore) = $3.58 (saved $1.40)
Tax: $0.00
SPC Discount: $0.36
Total paid: $3.22
Total saved: $1.76

June 25th 2011 - Zellers (Transaction 2)
Motrin 400 mg Liquid Gels (60 count): $5.00 (clearance price) - $5.00 coupon (from the web) = FREE (saved $12.49)
Tax: $0.75
Total paid: $0.75
Total saved: $12.49

I had an interesting trip at Walmart. First off, I was disappointed to see that they did not have the Kraft Dressing or the Lean Cuisine that I wanted. I really don't know where I will be able to use those. I did pick up the infant Tylenol that was on sale this week, as well as the Listerine for 2 for $8.00. I knew that the coupons I had for the mouthwash specified only 1 per person, but I had my partner with me and thought I would argue it (prompted by a forum discussion on MrsJanuary.com). First off, the Listerine scanned at the regular price of $5.79 a piece. I informed the cashier, who argued that they would end up coming up as $4.00 each in the end after she totaled the transaction (even though by the time I pointed it out, she had already totaled it). She was also a coupon scrutinizer and called over the manager to check out my Listerine coupons. By then, the line behind me was starting to fill up. The manager turned down the coupon, and I decided not to argue it (besides, I'm not sure how much luck I would have had with a manager, given that they do have the right to refuse coupons and I was pushing my luck already). She accepted one coupon, and my coupon for the Tylenol, but my total was still high. I decided to pay it, and see what would happen. Of course, she checks the receipt and realizes that the price charged was still $5.79 a piece. At this point though, I was happy to leave the line and go to customer service to get it rectified. Once there, I asked for the SCOP to be implemented, and was refunded for the first bottle and charged $4.00 for the second. Thus, in the end, I was charged $1.00 for two bottles. The customer service clerk looked annoyed, but hey, I have rights. And I sure as hell was going to ask for it after my coupon was denied :P. What a pain though.

June 25th 2011 - Walmart
2x Listerine mouthwash (1 L): $8.00 - free item (SCOP) - $3.00 coupon (from the web) = $1.00 (saved $10.58)
Infants Tylenol (24 ml) (gift): $5.57 - $2.00 coupon (from the web) = $3.57 (saved $3.00)
Tax: $1.43
Total spent: $6.00
Total saved: $13.58

My total amount saved this week was $51.36. When added to my running tally of saving since I started couponing, my total saved so far is $300.57! Yay!
